8th CSIT World Sports Games Kick Off Tomorrow in Loutraki

Press Release
8th CSIT World Sports Games Kick Off Tomorrow in Loutraki

Loutraki, June 2, 2025

Just a few hours remain until the Opening Ceremony, which will mark the official start of the 8th CSIT World Sports Games. The event kicks off tomorrow (June 3) with the preliminary rounds and will conclude on June 8 in Loutraki. Thousands of athletes and accompanying teams have already arrived in the beautiful spa town of Loutraki, as more than 4,500 participants from 60 countries will take part in this major international event.

The 8th edition of the Games begins tomorrow (June 3) with preliminaries in swimming and tennis. The Opening Ceremony will take place on Wednesday evening at 20:00, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region throughout the centuries. “When we applied to host the event, our vision was to give Loutraki the place it deserves on the international sports map. Our proposal stood out, and from June 3 to 8, our city will become an open, global village. Bonds will be formed among different countries, cultures, and stories—and through sport, these connections will remain alive. The Games are an opportunity for visitors to get to know and fall in love with our region, returning home as genuine ambassadors of Loutraki,” said Georgios Gionis, Mayor of Loutraki–Perachora-Agioi Theodoroi.

Busan (South Korea) was also in the running to host the event, but the Greek proposal prevailed. “Our decision to host the 8th CSIT World Sports Games in Greece and Loutraki was both natural and meaningful. Greece is the historic birthplace of the Olympic Games and thus symbolizes the roots of sport as a cultural and unifying practice. The event will not only be professionally executed but also rich in cultural exchange and local community involvement. These Games are living proof of our belief that people are united through sport,” emphasized Bruno Molea, President of the International Workers and Amateurs in Sports Confederation (CSIT).

A co-organizer of the “8th World Sports Games” is the Hellenic Organization for Company Sport & Health: “When we founded the Hellenic Organization for Company Sport & Health in 2011, our goal was to organize various athletic events to introduce Greek workers to company sport and its values and benefits. In 2019, when we became a member of CSIT, we set a new goal: to bring a major international event to Greece. A dedicated team worked hard, and we’re now proud to welcome around 4,500 guests to Loutraki who will compete in 35 sports and disciplines,” noted the organization’s president, Nikos Kerasovitis.

The event is being implemented by SPORTCAMP, a facility that supports sport on an international level. “SPORTCAMP began as a small summer camp and now hosts world-class events. We thank the institutions that helped make this event a reality,” said SPORTCAMP’s Sports Director, Michalis Xirogiannis.

During the Games, a team of scientists from academic institutions will study their impact on participants and the wider local community. “For the first time, an international sports event of this scale officially invites a research team, consisting of professors and researchers from five academic institutions across three continents, to conduct impact studies at the individual, organizational, and community level. We are grateful to the organizing committee for this opportunity and are committed to providing valuable insights,” said Dr. Christos Anagnostopoulos, UNESCO Chairholder and Professor of Sport Management at HBKU, Qatar.

The World Company Sport Games are co-organized by the Hellenic Organization for Company Sport & Health, the Municipality of Loutraki–Perachora–Agioi Theodoroi, and the CSIT (International Workers and Amateurs in Sports Confederation), operated by SPORTCAMP. Competitions will take place at SPORTCAMP’s modern facilities and other sports venues provided by the Municipality of Loutraki–Perachora–Agioi Theodoroi, such as the Loutraki Municipal Stadium “Christos Thodis”, the Loutraki Indoor Hall “G. Galanopoulos”, and the Loutraki Municipal Swimming Pool, as well as facilities offered by the municipalities of Corinth, Velo–Vocha, and Tripoli.

The Games are supported by the Region of Peloponnese, the Municipalities of Corinth, Velo–Vocha, and Tripoli, and the Loutraki Tourism Organization. They are held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs & Sports / General Secretariat of Sports and the Chamber of Commerce of Corinthia.

Sponsors of the Games include: Mandrekas Dairy S.A., FILA, Daily Fruits, and Loutraki Natural Mineral Water.
Media Sponsors: ERT3, Kathimerini, Athina 9.84, and Gazzetta.
