CSIT World Sports Games: Greece Participates with 175 Representatives, Flag Bearer Basketball Player Dimosthenis Angelopoulos
Loutraki, June 3, 2025
Greece will participate with 175 athletes in the 8th World Workers and Amateurs Games, which kicked off in Loutraki with the preliminary rounds in swimming and tennis. The flag bearer of the Greek delegation at the Opening Ceremony (June 4) will be basketball player Dimosthenis Angelopoulos, who will also deliver the Athlete’s Oath.
For about a week, the beautiful Greek spa town will host more than 4,500 athletes and team members from 60 countries, who will compete in 35 sports held across venues in Corinth and Arcadia.
The largest delegations come from Italy and Mexico. The Italian team numbers nearly 1,000 participants, while around 600 athletes from Mexico have chosen to travel to Greece to take part.
“The World Sports Games are the largest event of their kind ever hosted in Greece. They will have a major financial impact on the region. This is a form of sports tourism, where participants don’t just come to compete, but also to enjoy themselves with their families and friends. The local economy will benefit significantly—especially during a period that is typically low in tourist activity,” stated Spyros Karavoulis, President of the Hellenic Organization for Company Sports and Health.
The Opening Ceremony will take place on June 4, at the Loutraki Municipal Stadium “Christos Thodis”. During the parade of nations, basketball player Dimosthenis Angelopoulos will lead the Greek team as flag bearer. The ceremony will be followed by a vibrant cultural program featuring traditional dances performed by local cultural associations, expected to energize everyone in attendance.
The World Company Sport Games are co-organized by the Hellenic Organization for Company Sport & Health, the Municipality of Loutraki–Perachora–Agioi Theodoroi, and the CSIT (International Workers and Amateurs in Sports Confederation), operated by SPORTCAMP. Competitions will take place at SPORTCAMP’s modern facilities and other sports venues provided by the Municipality of Loutraki–Perachora–Agioi Theodoroi, such as the Loutraki Municipal Stadium “Christos Thodis”, the Loutraki Indoor Hall “G. Galanopoulos”, and the Loutraki Municipal Swimming Pool, as well as facilities offered by the municipalities of Corinth, Velo–Vocha, and Tripoli.
The Games are supported by the Region of Peloponnese, the Municipalities of Corinth, Velo–Vocha, and Tripoli, and the Loutraki Tourism Organization. They are held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs & Sports / General Secretariat of Sports and the Chamber of Commerce of Corinthia.
