Sports and Culture Formed a Bridge for 4,500 Athletes

Loutraki, 08/06/2025

With a Closing Ceremony and a spectacular sports demonstration, the curtain fell on the 2025 CSIT World Sports Games , hosted in Greece with Loutraki at its heart. Over the course of a week, 4,500 workers from 60 countries competed in 35 sports, contended for medals, had fun, tasted local flavors, and were introduced to Greek culture. Among the participants were many young boys and girls aged 7 to 11, who had the chance to take part in the first international event of their athletic careers, gaining valuable experience for the future.

The Closing Ceremony was set against Loutraki’s magical sunset, which added its own colors, delighted the thousands of visitors, and became the subject of countless photos destined to travel the world through social media—promoting the region far and wide.

“This beautiful journey has come to an end. It was a week full of energy, sporting spirit, and emotion. Thousands of athletes gave voice and soul to Loutraki and proved that sport is a bridge that unites cultures, without borders or discrimination,” said Georgios Gionis, Mayor of Loutraki – Perachora – Agioi Theodoroi.

Also present at the Closing Ceremony was the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport and MP for Corinthia, Christos Dimas, who stated: “We are extremely proud that such an important event was held in our country and in Corinthia. Once again, sport conveyed messages of noble competition, unity, and peace. The World Sports Games were a grand celebration, and I would like to congratulate everyone who contributed to their success.”

George Mavrotas, General Secretary of Sports and Olympic water polo participant, also supported this event focused on workplace sports. “Sport has always been a bridge that brings people together. It knows no age limits. I am sure everyone who took part in these Games will return home with the best memories,” said the former champion.

Bruno Molea, President of the International Confederation of Workers and Amateur Athletes (CSIT), also praised the organizers: “I am certain all participants will remember this event with great enthusiasm. Sport unites nations and becomes a vehicle for peace and friendship.”

For one week, workers and amateurs from around the globe experienced moments of sport and Greek hospitality. “The World Games carry many messages. Exercise through work helps bridge differences, strengthens collegial bonds, and creates lifelong relationships. The event was a great success, and all our guests will return to their countries with the best impressions,” emphasized Nikos Kerasovitis, President of the Hellenic Organization for Company Sports and Health.

Among the sports held across venues in Corinthia and Arcadia was jump rope, also known as skipping. During the Closing Ceremony, athletes performed choreographed jump rope routines that thrilled the thousands of spectators gathered along the coast. Although jump rope is commonly used as a training tool in many sports, at the Loutraki Games it was presented as a standalone discipline accompanied by music, featuring movements reminiscent of gymnastics, rhythmic routines, and parkour.

During the ceremony, the organizers and CSIT honored organizations and individuals who contributed to the success of the event. The curtain came down with the music of Mikis Theodorakis, and the iconic “Zorba’s Dance” got athletes and visitors alike on their feet, kicking off a party that lasted into the early morning hours.

The 8th World Sports Games were co-organized by the Hellenic Organization for Company Sports and Health, the Municipality of Loutraki – Perachora – Agioi Theodoroi, and the International Confederation of Workers and Amateur Athletes (CSIT), with SPORTCAMP as the operator. The Games were held at the modern facilities of SPORTCAMP, as well as municipal sports venues like theLoutraki Municipal Stadium “Christos Thodis”, Loutraki Indoor Hall “G. Galanopoulos”, and Loutraki Municipal Swimming Pool, in addition to sports spaces provided by the municipalities of Corinth, Velo–Vocha, and Tripoli.

The Games were supported by the Region of Peloponnese, the Municipality of Corinth, the Municipality of Velo–Vocha, the Municipality of Tripoli, and the Loutraki Tourism Organization. They were held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs & Sports / General Secretariat of Sports, and the Corinth Chamber of Commerce.

Sponsors of the Games included Mandrekas Dairy S.A., FILA, Daily Fruits, and Loutraki Natural Mineral Water. Media sponsors were ERT3, Kathimerini, Athina 9.84, and Gazzetta.
